About the role:

We are offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Casual Journalist to fill a vacancy within Illawarra's No 1 Radio Station (i98FM) in Wollongong. Reporting to the Content Director - Audio & Strategy, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting high quality news stories and bulletins with high relevance and appeal to i98FM listeners throughout the Illawarra region.

About you:

The successful applicant will have: 

• A university qualification in journalism
• At least 1-2 years' experience in a radio news room would be beneficial.
• Availability on weekends is a MUST, with the occasional weekday shift for any leave coverage
• Knowledge of local, national and international news stories affecting the community.
• Ability to identify story opportunities, and operate with initiative and flexibility.
• An understanding of media law.
• The ability to work as part of a team and independently.
• The ability to work in a fast paced environment - creating and presenting 1-2 bulletins per hour
• Accuracy and excellent attention to detail.
• Effective time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• The ability to communicate effectively both orally and written.
